Lake Erie Biggest Week
Each year there is a birding festival in Ohio called “The Biggest Week in American Birding” celebrating spring migration along the Lake Erie coast east of Toledo. Events are held at various parks including Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, Howard Marsh MetroPark and Pickeral Creek Wildlife Area. Warblers are generally the stars, but the variety of wildlife is truly outstanding. Even if you are not specifically into birding these events are worth it for nature lovers.
All of these photos are from the final day (May 14 - Mother’s Day). I tried to give a variety of images to showcase the wide diversity and wildlife. I did realize i forgot to get any of the turtles :( which include some endangered species :( . I blame sensory overload.
